Trusts and Estate Planning

Trusts are used widely throughout New Zealand and, if structured correctly, can be an excellent way of safeguarding assets.  It is imperative that settlors and trustees fully understand the purpose of the trust and their obligations in their roles to ensure that the trust remains effective for asset protection purposes.

New Zealand domiciled foreign trusts are used widely by offshore clients and new migrants to New Zealand and, structured properly, provide enhanced asset protection coupled with tax free foreign sourced income.

We can assist you to identify where a trust arrangement might be useful, with establishing and managing the trust, and in fully understanding your obligations under the arrangement.

We adopt a fully integrated approach to trust structuring and recommend that any trust is set up in conjunction with a review of your overall investment objectives to ensure that you are using the most efficient structure.  At the same time, your surrounding estate planning is brought up to date to ensure that your family is fully protected.

We welcome you to contact us for a confidential discussion of your requirements.
